This BBQ Spice Rub is what I prepare for vegetarian and meat recipes alike. It’s smoky, savory, sweetened with maple sugar, and packs a little kick. Initially I prepared this recipe for my Pulled Pork recipe, but grew to love it in many other ways. To try for yourself, keep on scrolling!
Combine all ingredients into a mixing bowl and stir until well incorporated. Another option is to add to a small container with a lid and shake. OR! You can add all the ingredients to a spice mill or mortar and pestle, then grind and toast in a small skillet (1-2 min over medium-low heat) for an even more aromatic blend!
Store in an airtight jar until ready to season to your heart’s content. Enjoy!
BBQ Spice Rub

YIELDS: ~ 1/2 cup
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp sea salt (smoked sea salt is even better!)
- 2 Tbs maple sugar (or coconut or brown sugar works tooz0
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbs smoked paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp chili powder (or cayenne)
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
