Basic Blender Salsa ft. Laird Superfood

This Basic Blender Salsa is simple, yet impactful. It’s raw, yet nothing short of delicious. It is one of many ways to enjoy a bountiful tomato season.

This Basic Blender Salsa is simple, yet impactful. It’s raw, yet nothing short of delicious. It is one of many ways to enjoy a bountiful tomato season. All you have to do is add all ingredients to a blender, pulse until broken down just enough, then taste test and adjust as needed. It could not get easier than that!

Fun fact, this recipe demystified salsa for me. I don’t know what it was, but I figured something so flavorful would require much more effort. I had no idea it was possible with raw ingredients (again, not sure why). Thankfully though, it’s silly easy, and there’s just no turning back now!

P.S. I enjoy adding Laird Superfood Activate Daily Jumpstart for an added kick of nutrients and flavor. It’s organic, adds vitamins and minerals. Oh, and it takes minimal effort, so it’s kind of like a 2-for-1!

Basic Blender Salsa:

PREP TIME: 15-20 MINUTES
MAKES: ~ 1 QUART

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz. cherry tomatoes
  • 2-3 jalapeños (or serrano peppers)
  • 1/2 sweet onion
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2+ Tbs fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 3+ Tbs freshly squeezed lemon/lime juice
  • 1 tsp Laird Superfood Activate Daily Jumpstart (optional)

Method:

  1. Roughly chop all ingredients, then add to a blender or food processor. Pulse until preferred consistency. Taste test and adjust seasonings as needed (keeping in mind the flavors will marinate while they sit.)
  2. Serve immediately or transfer to an air-tight container until ready to use. Enjoy!

Notes:

  • For added heat, keep the seeds of the jalapeños or serrano peppers.
  • To sweeten, or mellow out tanginess, add a little honey or sugar.
  • My favorite cherry tomatoes to use are sungolds! You can really taste a difference.
