These Zingy Orange Ginger Turmeric Shots are a sure way to kick start your day with a plethora of health benefits! They are bright and spicy with help from the ginger and turmeric.

According to Healthline.com:

“Ginger boasts many potent anti-inflammatory compounds, including a variety of antioxidants, which are substances that protect your body from damage by unstable molecules called free radicals.

For example, ginger is packed with gingerols, paradols, sesquiterpenes, shogaols, and zingerone, all of which have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.”

Another article from Healthline states:

Turmeric, also known as Curcuma longa… contains the chemical compound curcumin, which has been shown to aid in treating and preventing several chronic conditions…

Ginger and turmeric are two types of flowering plants with medicinal properties. Both can be consumed in various ways and are available as supplements.”

That said, these are only snippets of information for how ginger and turmeric offer health benefits. You can really go down the rabbit hole, but in the meantime, shall we take a shot? Scroll downwards for one of my favorite ways to go bottoms-up!

Zingy Orange Ginger Turmeric Shots

TIME: 5 MINS
YIELDS: 8 SHOTS / 2 SMOOTHIES

Ingredients for Zingy Orange Ginger Turmeric Shots:

  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1.5 cups+ coconut water (more or less to thin out the consistency)
  • 2 cup frozen pineapple (or mango or guava, or passion fruit! The options are limitless!)
  • 4+ Tbs fresh ginger, peeled (more or less to preference)
  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric (or capsule activated with black pepper)
  • pinch black pepper (to activate the turmeric)

METHOD:

  1. First, place all ingredients into a high speed blender and process until silky smooth. You can stop here or for a juice consistency you can strain through a cheese cloth. (I personally don’t mind the extra fiber.)
  2. Afterwards, divide into glasses and enjoy!

SMOOTHIE NOTES:

  • I own a Vitamix which has a “smoothie” setting, however, any high-speed blender will do with the right amount of patience haha!
  • For additional smoothie tips and tricks Vitamix has a great post on their website located here.
  • I suggest enjoying smoothies as soon as possible for optimal nutrients, however, you can transfer to an airtight jar or container for up to one day.
